The department is responsible for assisting our home country citizens whom are traveling, living or working abroad with different kind of services  range broadly from the provision of travel advice and advisories to enable citizens to make safe and responsible travel decisions to providing direct service to citizens abroad who require a stolen passport to be replaced, assistance with issuing to whom it may concern certificates, etc.  The Vienna Convention on Consular Relations (1963) informs consular affairs practices and establishes the framework for cooperation between states in consular matters.
